Moticos | 2025-26

A woman on a road trip is confronted by a series of surrealist vignettes recounting her tumultuous relationship with her ex-girlfriend, ending with her finding release through violence.

Yearlong capstone film directed by Paige Meakin

Driving Tiles Background

Rear projection was used to tackle the large number of driving shots with moving backgrounds. Beginning with a preliminary projection test with stock footage, a 3D mockup was made to explore a tile system. The landscape was split into 3 different sections of distances, which moved at different speeds to achieve a parallax effect. To be able to loop the tile footage, larger hill assets were made to cover the tiles to hide the loop seam. Mockups and digital tests were also done to experiment with using the same tiles for other shots.

The puppet's torsos were designed to be action figure-like halves that clamped down on either side of wires that came up from the pelvis. It was also made to have rig ports for the arms and neck to make them separable from the torso. This was done by molding and casting a whole torso, splitting it in half along a preplanned seam, and then molding each half again with precise armatures embedded inside.

Pink Is Not That Shrimple | 2025

10 week film made with nine other students - Directed by Valeria Gallegos Toriz

Puke Shot Fabrication

The challenge of the vomit was to make sure that it moved and read as a liquid but still fit within the cute visual style of the film. The vomit was made out of Van Aken clay, mixed with glitter and Propoxy pieces to resemble the shrimp, and was brushed with baby oil to give it a shine. To create an animatable mouth, the bottom of a solid beak was dremmeled away and a lower jaw shape was sculpted with Propoxy.
