The Driver's acting was kept subtle and naturalistic to give her a believable nature while drip-feeding the audience her intense emotional state.
Animatable lighting and a rear-projection moving background helped to sell the idea of being in a car. To sell a realistic suspension, both the projected footage and the final footage were given camera shake in After Effects.

Driving Backgrounds
Rear projection was used to tackle the large number of driving shots with moving backgrounds. Beginning with a preliminary projection test with stock footage, a 3D mockup was made to explore a tile system. The landscape was split into 3 different sections of distances, which moved at different speeds to achieve a parallax effect. To be able to loop the tile footage, larger hill assets were made to cover the tiles to hide the loop seam. Mockups and digital tests were also done to experiment with using the same tiles for other shots.
